Sound
as evidence.
Field recording / live electronics / moving image / spatial sound / documentary methods
I record how work sounds: machines, repeated gestures, voices and rooms.
I use field recording, hardware sampling, moving image, spatial sound and live electronics. In these projects, sound documents labour, social relations and memory.
My father is a craftsman, and I have worked in car polishing and paintwork. This experience shapes how I enter workshops and listen. I spend time with people before I record, and I treat conversation as part of the work.
I move recorded material between film, installation and performance. A machine can become a rhythm, a found object an instrument, and a virtual room an acoustic space. In a live set, sound and image can change in response to each other.
