Project 02 / 2024
Acoustic iO
Interactive sound sculpture / composition / live improvisation

When does an ordinary object become an instrument?
Bilal Yılmaz’s installation uses vibration motors to make found objects resonate. Ten sound artists recorded and interpreted the sculpture. I processed my recordings with live electronics and developed an improvised performance with Idilko.

Instrument as system
The project links object, vibration, resonance, microphone, processing and audience. Each stage changes the sound while the original physical character of the object remains audible.
Live activation
Touch, microphone placement, gain, feedback and timing affect every performance. Our live set turned an educational installation into a responsive public instrument.
Shared authorship
The work moves between installation design and musical interpretation. Small technical decisions become audible, making collaboration part of the instrument itself.
